Super-Entities

Abstract

A number of entities can be grouped together to form a single new super-entity. In a way polylines are super-entities since they cause a number of lines and arcs to be grouped together. AutoCAD provides a more general way of linking objects together to form blocks. Blocks are mini-drawings that can be called up or inserted into a drawing at any location and as many times as desired. By compounding entities to form frequently used shapes or symbols AutoCAD can avoid unnecessary duplication of drafting. Blocks can be made globally available to drawings allowing AutoCAD users to build up libraries of complicated shapes which can be easily incorporated into any new drawing. Indeed, the true benefits of AutoCAD only become apparent when you have such libraries set up. Large assembly drawing can be quickly created by inserting the standard details from your library.
