Abstract
The recovery room is an area within the operating theatre unit where shortterm critical care is given after surgery and anaesthesia. It is here that support is provided for the patient through the reversing stages of anaesthesia until he is fully conscious, his protective reflexes have returned and his vital signs are stable.
