Abstract

It is clear that industry wants hybrids. Furthermore, it knows what it wants hybrids to do. What is not clear is where they will come from. As educators, we have an important role to play: indeed, we have a perfect opportunity to focus the debate. Since the early 1980s, polytechnics, universities and colleges of higher education have been searching for an appropriate formula to produce students who exhibit the qualities alluded to in earlier chapters. A large number of courses have been introduced, and Kingston University has been particularly active in this field.
