Abstract

The pathogenesis of interstitial cystitis is currently unknown. One possible etiology is that the transitional epithelium is defective, leading to molecular leaks that initiate the disease complex. This theory was the principle rationale for the employment by us of pentosanpolysulfate (PPS) in the therapy of interstitial cystitis.
