Abstract
This chapter concentrates on the requirements for a generic set of test tools together with their associated quality requirements and lists some tools which are commercially available. A number of widely known tools which are commercially available and fit into the proposed toolset are reviewed. Advice on the selection of tools is given. The other elements of a test environment are stubs and harnesses and plant simulators, Plant simulators are covered in Chapter 6 but stubs and harnesses are mainly project specific and so are not considered in detail within this book.
