Designing for Testability

Safety-related systems should be designed for testability. This chapter focuses on real time control systems, and considers some typical design and implementation approaches. The emphasis is on the merits of these approaches for testability. The introduction to this chapter describes some typical safety-related applications. The merits of hardware and software interfaces between system functions is discussed, followed by a discussion of implementation options and software issues that affect testability.
