Abstract
The advent of low cost and powerful microcomputers coupled with the wider availability of appropriate software has led to an increasing number of clinical database applications in gastroenterology (Macrae et al. 1984; Goodyear and Jackson 1985; Williams 1986). This chapter describes experience gained in installing a considerable number of such databases, often customised for the particular needs of an individual client. Examples include endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), colonoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, adenomas, polyposis, anal condyloma, colitis, and colorectal surgery.
