Abstract

To keep abreast with the explosion of information in all areas of medicine, it is now essential to read several detailed and extensive journals on a weekly basis. To make this worthwhile and effective, a good retrieval system is essential. With a large volume of literature, manual filing systems are cumbersome. Computerisation offers several alternatives (Kumim 1984). Large mainframe based bibliographic systems reference the entire literature and are not personally derived, but are expensive and access to them can be restricted. Hence we have developed a system for microcomputers which allows sophisticated retrieval of the physician’s own reading on demand.
