Chronic Idiopathic Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy

  • Chapter
Guillain-Barré Syndrome

Part of the book series: Clinical Medicine and the Nervous System ((CLIN.MED.NERV.))

Abstract

The occurrence of chronic progressive or relapsing forms of polyradiculoneuropathy has been recognised since descriptions by Osler in 1892 and reports at the end of the nineteenth century (Targowla 1894). The precise definition of these disorders continues to exercise reviewers (Dyck and Arnason 1984; Hughes et al. 1987; Albers and Kelly 1989; Barohn et al. 1989).
