Abstract

Although nurse specialists are playing an increasingly important role at the interface between hospital and community care of patients with chronic venous ulcers it is unclear which tasks can be delegated. Traditionally, nurses have been restricted to applying dressings and compression therapy prescribed by doctors. In future the nurse specialist may become more involved in diagnosis and initiation of treatment.
