Abstract

Assignments are executable statements. The ASSIGN statement defines a scalar variable with the value of a statement label. The execution of an intrinsic or defined assignment statement causes a variable to become defined (with a valid value) or to become redefined (with a new value). The WHERE statement and the WHERE construct are array assignments which are evaluated only for selected array elements. A pointer assignment statement associates a pointer with a target such that the pointer points at this target.
