Abstract
Patients who have undergone permanent pacemaker, ICD, or CRT device implantation should be regularly followed-up. Follow-up normally takes place in a specifically designated, out-patient pacing clinic – the pacemaker clinic – although increasing numbers of patients in Europe and USA are being monitored at home using a variety of remote monitoring systems. According to the HRS/EHRA expert consensus, follow-up should include the assessment of the device and lead status, as well as the review of detected episodes and hemodynamic measurements or recordings of any other programmed parameters. The details of their joint recommendations can be found in the journal Europace 2008;10:707–725.
