Abstract

Operative complications can occur after any of type surgery and urological surgery is no exception. These can either be general complications or specific to urology, and they can be either early or late in the post-operative period. The chapter will cover several types of post-operative complications including shock due to blood loos, anaphylaxis after intravenous antibiotics or contrast injection, scrotal swelling after scrotal surgery, abdominal wound dehiscence, blocked catheter after transurethral surgery, post-circumcision bleeding, compartment syndrome of the lower limb, catheter displacement post radical prostatectomy, and metabolic complications.
