Abstract

Malignant tumors are rare in pediatric-age patients. Cancers occurring before children are 15 years old represent less than 1 % of all cancers. In Europe, it is estimated that 1 in 500 children in this age group will have cancer. In contrast to adults, pediatric tumors have better clinical prognosis with a follow-up superior to 80 % at 5 years, but malignant disease is still the first cause, after accidents, of child mortality.
