Abstract
A lower motor neurone presentation of motor weakness and fasciculation is easy to interpret as motor neurone disease. When there are demyelinating features and there is sensory involvement electrophysiologically (even with no discernible clinical involvement) the diagnosis is CIDP, or if individual nerve involvement can be discerned, MADSAM (multifocal acquired demyelinating sensory and motor neuropathy – or Lewis Sumner syndrome). We present a case of motor predominant CIDP. This responds to IVIG and may respond to or get worse with steroids and plasma exchange.
