Neuromuscular Disease

Abstract

Botulism is an important differential diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, and although pupils are typically dilated they can be normal at the onset, as in this case. Spontaneous recovery can take up to three months and supportive treatment with artificial ventilation may be required. Food-borne botulism is a notifiable disease.
