Abstract

This session contained three papers, only loosely related to each other, but addressing important aspects of persistent systems engineering. The first paper, written by Erik Odberg, deals with schema modification management. The second paper was presented by Luca Vinciotti and addresses the problem of distribution in Galileo, the persistent programming language developed at the University of Pisa. Finally, the third paper, presented by Steve Rozen, describes the construction of a domain-specific DBMS, LabBase, on top of an existing persistent object system,
