Abstract
This chapter presents a framework to assist in the construction of applications which support group working, in particular, the activity of negotiation. The framework is intended to provide knowledge-based support for individuals within the group and for the group itself, rather than replace, or partially replace, some of the actors by automatic systems. The concern, therefore, is with the organization and support of negotiation between the human actors in the system, between the humans and the knowledge-based components and between the knowledge-based components themselves.
