Abstract

The European economy is faced with important changes. After decades of slow movement within different countries of the European Community a single market was realized by the end of 1992. This means that Europe will turn into a territory without state frontiers, guaranteeing a free flow of people, goods, services and capital. An increasing opening of East European countries towards this development can be observed. It will cause considerable changes in the competition of business enterprises and industrial branches, as the sales potential as well as the number of competitors will increase to a large extent.
