Abstract
In chapter one we decided that decomposition is an essential prerequisite for an efficient symbolic representation of shape. Accordingly we have pursued the Hough transform method with the aim of extracting the component features of shape from the image. We are so far able to decompose an image into straight lines. In this chapter we go on to consider the extraction of curved features such as arcs of circles or ellipses.
