Abstract

The main focus of this theoretical section has been the importance of, and need for, managerial and organisational integration within private enterprises. Whilst the introduction of new technologies (for example CNC, CAD, CAD-CAM, CIM, CIE, FMS or whatever) has been seen both as an important catalyst to achieving such integration, and as demanding greater functional or organisational integration, such needs exist irrespective of “new technologies”.
