Abstract

Empirical studies and our own experience indicate that most CIM technology applications are technically successful. However, only a few companies have succeeded in improving their competitive position. One explanation is that industrial enterprises have not been able to relate CIM technology to the corporate strategy. Another explanation is failure to manage the organizational learning process involved in the new manufacturing technology.
