The Management of the Neuropathic Bladder

Abstract

There are three main considerations in the management of a patient with neuropathic lower urinary tract dysfunction.

  1. 1.

Multiple urodynamic pathology is the general rule.

  2. 2.

Lower urinary tract dysfunction may lead to secondary upper urinary tract problems and ultimately to renal failure.

  3. 3.

The lower urinary tract cannot be considered in isolation from other neurological and related problems affecting particularly the bowel, sexual function, the spine and the lower limbs.
