Abstract
Normal voiding appears to be a simple process and normal individuals probably do not even consciously consider the dynamics of micturition. However, the process of normal micturition depends on a multitude of complex factors which must be working in a co-ordinated way in order for bladder emptying to take place without disturbance. Voiding consists of a combination of bladder contraction and outlet relaxation such that emptying is rapid and without retention of residual urine.
