Abstract
Julian Hilton gives his perspective on this book and its direct source: the conference “Culture, Language and Artificial Intelligence”, held in Stockholm May-June 1988 at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. The questions of human skill and traditions of innovation are focussed, as well as issues of machine and human intelligence. Metaphor and theatre are given special importance for the future development of these reflections.
