Abstract
Anatomically the ear is usually divided into three parts:

1.
The external ear, consisting of the auricle or pinna and the external auditory meatus
-
2.
The middle ear, which is a vertical cleft con-tinuous via the mastoid antrum with the network of mastoid air cells
-
3.
The inner ear, comprising the organs of hearing and balance embedded in the dense bone of the petrous pyramid
