Abstract
Weight and weight velocity values for Leeds schoolchildren are included in Table 8.1 and more fully in Appendix 2. Weight centiles are shown respectively for the boys and girls in Figs. 3.1 and 3.2 and weight velocity centiles in Figs. 3.3 and 3.4. These values, based on chronological age, are compared with those of Professor Tanner in Figs. 3.5 and 3.6 (Tanner et al. 1966; Tanner and Whitehouse 1976). The average age at which weight was increasing at its fastest was 14.27 ± 0.98 years for boys and 12.08 ± 1.08 years for girls (see Table 8.1). Comparisons of the 50th centile values for boys and girls for weight and weight velocity respectively are shown in Figs. 3.7 and 3.8.
