Abstract

Approximately one quarter of malignant lym-phomata arise in an extranodal site, of which the nose and paranasal sinus region is one of the less common. The term lymphosarcoma was first applied to tumours in this situation by Schmidt (1897), and Greifenstein (1937) was the first to report reticulum cell sarcoma occurring in the ethmoid region. The tumours are all of the non-Hodgkin’s variety and no convincing example of isolated primary Hodgkin’s disease in the nasal region has been presented (Friedmann and Osborn 1982).
