Abstract
Inverted papilloma is an uncommon epithelial tumour of the nose and paranasal sinuses which has been the subject of much interest and considerable debate since it was first described by Ringertz (1938). Although the earliest references to nasal papilloma were by Ward (1854) and Billroth (1855), Ringertz first drew attention to the “inverted” nature of the tumour and since then considerable controversy has surrounded the nomenclature, natural history and treatment of these lesions.
