Abstract
A new broadband wireless interactive access system, Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS) is soon to be deployed in the US. Auctions for the spectrum, issued by Basic Trading Areas (BTAs) are expected to start in late 1997 and be finished in early 1998. The following discussion will introduce LMDS as well as discuss a possible deployment model and consider system link margins that can be expected in a typical deployment. Some cost considerations will also be discussed.
