Abstract
Future advanced terminals for multimedia use are interesting technology areaf which can lead to market explosion similar to mobile phone markets. This perspective to research and market trends to area is focused on the broadband (wireless) terminals in the last mile. However; it is argued that there is no single terminal type, but multiple terminal platforms and standards will exists in the future. The most possible approach to cope with the increasing market diversivity is to increase adaptivity with software (aka software radio/network research) in the terminals.
