Abstract
This paper gives an overview of digital microwave multipoint distribution systems (MMDS) and local multipoint distribution systems (LMDS) following the standardization work carried out by the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) project and the Digital Audiovisual Council (DAVIC). The basic transmit and receive functions are described, and the technical challenges in receiver design are discussed.
