Abstract
In the previous chapter, we examined different distributed application architectures and observed the potential of the MOM-based clustered approach, which we subsequently named the Federated Application Architecture. We saw that with a properly designed Federation, we can achieve both processing and administrative isolation of domains. Here we elaborate on the notion of the Federation and we establish the parameters for the design, implementation and deployment of enterprise-wide federated applications.
