Abstract
Although safety has been a major concern at the Swedish Armed Forces for a long time, its application has undergone essential changes during the nineties. This paper describes the background and presents the Swedish System Safety Manual, its contents and related matters. It also introduces some of the work that is in progress in the defence procurement area for a safer future.
