Abstract

The objective of this paper is to propose an extension of the object-oriented view concepts for providing a variety of user’s perspective views on spatial databases. This paper deals with the issues of design and implementation of materialized spatial views in object-oriented spatial databases. The semantics of object-oriented spatial views and the functionalities for implementing spatial views are proposed. We also present incremental spatial view maintenance by using view derivation relationships.

This work was supported in part by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Korea under the National GIS project and in part by Research Institute of Computer and Information Communication in Pusan National University.
