Abstract

For the full benefits of object technology to be realised, there must be one set of object technology standards. One set of standards is something that has not been achieved before in the computer industry.

The OMG has made remarkable progress in a relatively short period of time in gaining wide consensus in the formulation of object technology standards. Without denying in any way the work of other IT standards groups, in the object technology domain the OMG’s achievements and work in progress are of great significance worldwide, and hence are the subject of this paper.
