Abstract

The planning of treatment in urological cancer requires exact tumour staging. The prognosis of the disease depends on the absence of metastases. It is especially difficult to determine lymph node status. Lymphatic metastases are not as rare as suspected and their growth is independent of haematogenous metastases. The frequency of lymph node metastases is highly dependent on tumour grade and stage.
