The Value of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology in the Management of Metastatic Germ Cell Tumours

Book cover Aspiration Cytology in the Staging of Urological Cancer

Abstract

Testicular cancer is a rare malignancy, comprising only about 1% of all cancers in men. Significant advances have been made in recent years with a reduction in overall mortality. Cure of metastatic disease is dependent upon accurate clinical and surgical/pathological staging, appropriate use of tumour markers, intensive chemotherapy regimens and the correct timing of surgery to remove residual disease [1–4].
