Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to summarize and integrate the more important information about human bladder physiology in order to provide an overall view of present concepts. Many of the more controversial issues have been identified and discussed in the previous chapters. This presentation will be more didactic and consequently might soon be outdated. The following account, therefore, concentrates on those aspects of present knowledge which are the most practically useful.
