Non-invasive Oximetry Using the Biox III Oximeter: Clinical Evaluation and Physiological Aspects
Within the last 40 years many attempts have been made to measure the arterial oxygen saturation (Sao2). The arterial oxygen saturation is defined as the amount of oxyhaemoglobin (HbO2) expressed as a percentage or as a fraction of the amount of total haemoglobin (THb) including haemoglobin (Hb) plus carboxy- haemoglobin (HbCO), oxyhaemoglobin (HbO2) and methaemoglobin (MetHB) under physiological as well as clinical conditions.
