Abstract

Assessment of a peripheral neuropathy requires a firm understanding of the clinical and electrophysiological features of peripheral nerve diseases (see Chap. 3), in addition to an appreciation of the general and specific pathological reactions in peripheral nerves which are discussed in this chapter. Much of the present body of information regarding peripheral nerve pathology has been gathered from detailed examination of nerve biopsies, from autopsy material and from experimental studies.
