Abstract

Mass lesions within the spinal canal, or lesions in the spinal column or the paravertebral space with extension into the canal are not common in children. Early clinical signs of an intraspinal mass lesion in a child may be subtle and radiographic abnormalities revealed at plain film X-ray may often be absent. Because of this, intraspinal neoplasms and neoplasms of the vertebrae or the paravertebral space are often quite large before they come to sophisticated neuroradiologic examinations.
