The Normal Spine and Spinal Cord

  • Chapter

Abstract

The old adage of “know the normal, recognize the abnormal, and understand the pathology” holds true for CT of the spine as it does in all other fields of diagnostic imaging. The standard radiographic anatomy of the spine and spinal cord is well known, but high resolution CT and CTMM have added a new dimension to the imaging of these structures, and hence a thorough description of the normal anatomy is necessary before discussing pathologic changes.
