Abstract

In the final analysis, a team is singular and thus the word ‘team’ can mean different things to different people. Teams are ubiquitous and heterogeneous on different levels: work teams, supplier teams, design teams, planning teams, functional and cross-functional teams, task forces, ad hoc teams, senior-level teams, etc. Moreover, team efficiency is a widely held belief that must be proved. Several investigations in group psychology show how careful we must be about unwarranted assumptions in this field.
