Abstract
The number of variables involved in a large power system, the quantity of data to be processed, and the complexity and variety of decisions that have to be taken keeping in view the large number of constraints involved makes the instrumentation and controllers so complicated that the use of computers becomes a natural choice for controlling the system. When the controllers are replaced by a computer or when a computer is introduced into a loop, the process is said to be computer controlled.
