Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to give an overview of the Society’s history as a professional body, its current activities in this area, and its short-to-medium intentions in the professional field. We wish to affirm an openness and willingness to co-operate with all seriously interested bodies in the creation of a Software Engineering profession, both at a national and international level. As will emerge, the Society is engaged in many initiatives in this area, and is prepared to consider more.
