Abstract
Sinusitis is an inflammation involving the mucous membrane of the paranasal sinuses. The cause is most often a respiratory virus, with secondary bacterial infection although a variety of other agents play a significant role. The clinical profile may range from a mild nasal stuffiness to severe, debilitating disease. Complications may be associated with significant morbidity and mortality.
