Semi-Autonomous Work Groups at Audi-Volkswagen

Abstract

This study is based upon the development of work groups and corresponding training and qualification methods at two companies in the automotive industry. The companies were led to support a major research project because of changes in work structures, new flexible work technologies and the restructuring of the occupational system in the fields of metal forming and electrical construction. The aim of the project was to describe new qualification profiles and emerging qualification patterns of skilled workers in the car industry and to develop training measures to meet the requirements of the new patterns of knowledge, competence in methods, and social competence.
