Abstract

Market research conducted in 1990 by PA Consulting suggested that the market potential for wireless PBX extensions could be as much as 25% of all extensions. The demand for communications for on-site mobile staff is clear. It has been estimated that European employees spend up to 60% of their time working away from their desks but on-site; this can result in time-consuming and irritating delays and the high cost of returning calls. However, by 1995 the market was running at little more than 1% of shipments of PBX lines.
