Abstract
The Greek philosopher Ptolemy summarised the ancient view of the structure of the Universe in about 140 AD. This view placed the Earth at the centre of the Universe with the Sun, Moon, planets and stars attached to crystal spheres, concentrically arranged, that revolved about the Earth.
